At the heart of this vision is a strategic partnership with Wipro and Intel to embed AI-driven innovation across its operations.  Through a jointly executed Proof of Concept, Wipro integrated Wipro Intelligence™ with Intel® Core™ Ultra powered AI PCs, accelerating bank workflows, enhancing employee experience, and reinforcing HDFC Bank’s leadership in technology-driven financial services.

Ambition

HDFC Bank’s vision was to infuse artificial intelligence into daily operations as part of its broader digital transformation strategy. The bank pursued a structured, outcome-oriented approach to AI adoption with clear goals: speed up routine workload execution and shorten project delivery cycles. By deploying next-generation Intel® Core™ Ultra powered AI PCs with integrated NPUs (Neural Processing Units) and on-device AI acceleration, HDFC aimed to achieve faster turnarounds on day-to-day tasks. Equally important, the leadership sought to boost employee experience and satisfaction by providing staff with intelligent, responsive, and future-ready tools. This ambition underscored HDFC Bank’s commitment to empowering its workforce with technology that not only optimizes workflows but also drives long-term engagement and agility.

Action

Wipro played a pivotal role in enabling HDFC Bank’s AI-first transformation.

Partnering with Intel, Wipro designed and executed a phased PoC implementation strategy that began with identifying high-impact use cases and deploying its Wipro Intelligence™ suite on Intel powered AI PCs. This suite includes advanced tools such as Document Translator for real-time multilingual translation, KnowDeskAI for intelligent document search, and IntellexFlow AI for AI-assisted process design—solutions that offload AI tasks to Intel Core Ultra’s GPU/NPU, thereby increasing CPU availability for other productivity tasks and enhancing overall efficiency while addressing operational bottlenecks.

Wipro enabled seamless participation for PoC Users through targeted onboarding and guidance, including employee training, AI champions for peer mentoring, and clear communication that AI augments human capabilities. 

Simultaneously, Wipro worked closely with HDFC’s IT team to validate the  robust security measures—full-disk encryption, remote device management, and controlled deployment of AI workflows—ensuring compliance and data integrity. By combining cutting-edge technology with thoughtful governance and employee engagement, Wipro helped HDFC Bank embed AI into its core operations.

Ambitions Realized

HDFC Bank’s AI-powered transformation has delivered measurable impact.

The results were immediate and measurable: up to 2× faster data processing and a 50% increase in task efficiency in comparison to the older, non-AI powered devices that HDFC currently maintains for its workforce. Reports that previously took minutes were generated almost instantly, and employees could retrieve or translate documents in seconds, significantly improving turnaround times.

Workflow completion was now observed to be 35–40% faster for the tested process, reducing processes that once took over an hour to just over 35–40 minutes. As reported in the PoC, during the evaluation period employees are reclaiming 3–4 hours weekly, enabling them to focus on higher-value tasks and customer service—driving productivity gains across the organization.

Running AI tasks directly on Intel-powered AI PCs with Wipro Intelligence™ suite has eliminated reliance on constant cloud connectivity. Features like real-time translation and data analysis now execute locally, reducing latency by about 70% and ensuring sensitive data remains on-device for full compliance with India’s data sovereignty requirements.

Performance for resource-intensive tasks has improved by 40–60% during benchmarking tests, empowering field teams to work seamlessly even in remote areas with limited internet. This capability has enhanced collaboration across functions, enabling faster sharing of AI-driven insights and improving overall effectiveness. 

By equipping employees with smarter tools, Wipro has helped HDFC Bank turn AI into a true force multiplier for its workforce.
