Challenges
The planning and implementation processes of the client were not operating at optimum speeds and were unable to meet the demand for parameter planning projects. Processes had to be optimized and the client wanted Wipro to focus on “transport parameter planning” to drive this improvement and deliver the piled-up volumes.
Solution
Wipro engaged with the client for improving the parameter planning process through 3 streams of execution of the planning activities at scale, automation of planning activities and also develop real-time visual dashboards to track KPIs to track both quality and progress of the planning projects. Wipro used existing client tools landscape to automate 40% of the tasks and delivered automation scripts and reports for data consistency and reconciliation checks, process templates to reduce in-process errors and dashboards for real-time tracking and assignments. Also, Wipro was able to deliver at scale by leveraging offshoring, which was not possible earlier.
Business impact
Helped deliver the large scale of overdue planning activities post-merger, continuous network expansion for 2G, 3G, 4G, MW lines.
Improved productivity per cycle from 75 to 92 projects per person per sprint, improved compliance to corporate goals from 71% to 92% for all tasks, improved error-free first-time delivery of projects from 55% to 94%.
“From a manual, local and internally-served operation, our team incrementally used applied automation in a global delivery model to make the client’s network planning and optimization future-ready. Improved velocity and innovation became evident for the client and our work has won plaudits from its CXOs; through this, the relationship has been strengthened and, as a result, Wipro has been awarded the next 5G adoption phase till 2021.” - Bhawani Shankar, Vice President, Europe & Growth Markets, Communications Business Unit, Wipro
