Since its inception, the board members have discussed on varied themes that would help define AI and act as guiding light for the future. Bridging the gap between the “Art of the Possible” i.e. what we are exploring, with the “Science of the real” i.e. what is technologically feasible, is an important point of discussion where one tries to find balance between vision and pragmatism. The board has discussed important topics like Ethics in AI, and AI and security and the panel agrees on the importance of creating frameworks and policies, at organization as well as government level, to ensure that the future of AI is safe and ethical. There have been relevant discussions on how to approach automation journeys and the partnerships to build along the way to ensure successful digital transformation.
Board members in unison agree that their enterprises are still facing major challenges, including voluminous unstructured data, a severe shortage of AI and machine learning engineers, explain-why ability and trust deficit with AI, and legacy mindsets that are hindering the growth of AI. However, the overall confidence levels on the “Art of Possible” with AI is very high and the members do see AI technologies coming to the fore quickly in the next couple of years. Through peer networking, exchanging best practices and learnings from their industry counterparts, members of Wipro HOLMES™ Advisory Board have gained valuable knowledge about where AI and automation are heading and what still needs to be done.
