Background
JCB India, a leading construction equipment manufacturer wanted to increase its value to customer and channel partners by leveraging and integrating IoT into its eco-system. In addition to producing varied types of equipment, the company’s supply and maintenance channels included various partners and customers using the equipment in a multitude of industrial environments across India.
Successfully connect over 50,000 machines for a leading construction manufacturer in India.
Wipro’s experts in the Manufacturing and Hi-tech domain collaborated with a consortium of specialist partners to develop this turnkey IoT solution and manage ongoing deployment and support.
A multi-prong approach was developed which encompassed a core platform and the strategic use of apps to address the varied types of equipment produced by the company, creating value for the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), dealers and end customers.
The solution was designed and deployed on Wipro’s cloud-based Industrial Internet Platform, 'Looking Glass'. The new IoT platform enabled better uptime and insight into utilization using machine data collected along with location details in each packet. It also successfully connected over 50,000 construction equipment and machines, such as backhoe loaders, excavators and compact wheel loaders which were deployed across locations in India.
The cloud-based IoT solution substantially added value to all stakeholders in the eco-system:
Currently, over 50,000 machines across India have been successfully managed on Wipro’s cloud platform for over a year. The manufacturer is working with Wipro Digital to implement the solution globally.
