Client Background
Challenge
A global manufacturer of industrial, commercial, and residential water-treatment systems sought to improve its readiness for future technologies that would enable continued growth and innovation. The company planned to embrace SAP as a way to increase its technical and operational agility, enhance real-time visibility across business lines, harmonize data, and improve reporting throughout the enterprise.
Using the SAP Cloud Platform or whitelisted APIs, the water-treatment leader hoped to close process change gaps by developing in-app and side-side extensions. The goal was to reduce inefficiencies caused by manual interventions and eliminate redundancies accessing business-critical information. The ideal solution would also fix its subcontracting system, procurement processes, internal coding processes, and issues that caused incorrect reporting for revenue and cost of goods.
Solution
Wipro created a solution based on the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Essentials Edition, identifying more than 200 process-change gaps and configuration limitations for development on SAP S/4HANA Cloud. This created a single, standardized system to manage end-to-end processes for finance, supply chain, and production functions, helping the company remove improve its efficiency while simplifying the extraction of business-critical information to improve decision making and support future growth.
To enable rapid implementation for multiple SAP S/4HANA Cloud business modules, Wipro adopted an agile SAP ACTIVATE methodology that allowed the water-treatment company to develop and test solutions across business functions.
In addition, Wipro customized in-app extensions and created new out-of-box functionalities leveraging the SAP Cloud platform that automated business processes. These were integrated with SAP S/4HANA Cloud and third-party applications for a seamless transition between applications. This approach also identified impediments to missing functionalities and enabled a new change-management process to ensure correct transition to SAP.
Business Impact
This new platform gave the company a series of short and long-term benefits. In-app customization delivered an improved user experience, while additional functionality improved the company’s visibility into supply-chain operations across global business units and simplified its order-to-cash and source-to-pay business processes. Meanwhile, the company benefited from reduced access times for business processes and a reduced dependency on third-party applications, which led to a reduction in support costs. This end-to-end initiative, while achieving the company’s business goals, also provided a foundation for future transformation enhancements.
