The second edition of The Wipro Chennai Marathon (TWCM) scheduled for December 1 2013, is poised to surpass the success of the inaugural edition if the registrations are anything to go by. With more than 5000 entries received so far, all indications are for another successful marathon. With this edition of the race, TWCM establishes itself as a permanent fixture in the city – to be held on the first Sunday in December every year. Over 10,000 runners are expected to participate this year, adding a unique dimension to Chennai’s famed December cultural calendar! This year too, TWCM has some great brands on board as sponsors including, The Westin, Chennai Super Kings, Adidas, Apollo and MMRF Reality and Infrastructure. The Wipro Chennai Marathon has been recognized as an official event by the Tamil Nadu Athletic Association.

The Chennai Runners group is a running club founded in 2006, based out of Chennai India. The club has grown steadily over the years – currently encompassing nearly 2000 active members from all across the city. Apart from organizing informal runs on a daily and weekly basis, the group has been instrumental in bringing and hosting various running events in Chennai over the years.
