November 04, 2015 : TCO15 finalists from around the globe travel to Indianapolis for the ultimate coding battle
Indianapolis, IN ? November 4, 2015 ? In the final battle of the 2015 Topcoder Open (TCO15), the world's most talented programmers will compete live on stage for the championship title. The three-day competitive programming event will take place November 8-10 in Indianapolis at the Omni Severin Hotel.
Topcoder is Appirio's global crowdsourcing community of more than 890,000 designers, developers, and data scientists who compete to solve some of the toughest business challenges for enterprise customers, such as Booz Allen Hamilton and NASA.
"We're incredibly proud of our Topcoder community, and we're excited to show off their impressive talents," said Mike Epner, President of Crowdsourcing at Appirio. "Since 2001, TCO has attracted the heavyweights in the competitive programming space. It's amazing to see these brilliant minds from every background imaginable come together to duke it out for the championship title. These are the people who are changing the world with technology."
The TCO15 finalists are the best of the best. Over the course of a year, they have won challenge after challenge in dozens of virtual competitions, as well as in-person competitions in India, Japan, Russia, and the USA. The 65 remaining contestants are battling for the number one spots in Development, Information Architecture, Marathon, User Interface Design, and Prototype. This unique group ? representing 23 countries across five continents ? includes Google professionals, a computer forensic expert for the Brazilian government, a freshman at Harvard University, and community members defending multiple Topcoder Open championship titles. In a typically male-dominated field, eight of the finalists are women, including a four-time finalist who goes by the handle [picachui].
"It's been an amazing hobby over the years. Topcoder has pushed me to challenge myself, introduced me to people around the world, and prepared me for job interviews and contests," said Scott Wu, an algorithm finalist and a freshman at Harvard who goes by the handle [scott_wu].
TCO15 is sponsored by Eleven Fifty Academy, Google, memSQL, and SparkPost.
