October 01, 2015 : The new programs offer the enterprise a unique way to innovate by supplementing internal IT capabilities with a community of on-demand crowdsourcing experts
SAN FRANCISCO, CA ? October 1, 2015 ? Appirio, a global cloud services provider and leader in enterprise crowdsourcing, today introduced First 10, a unique set of adoption services that will help IT and product development teams use crowdsourcing to supplement and scale their internal technical capabilities. Created to help mid-to-large size companies see immediate and predictable results from crowdsourcing, First 10 provides a solution to a growing IT talent gap.
As indicated by a recent survey conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of Appirio, recruiting and retaining talent is a significant barrier to growth; 90 percent of C-level executives admit that it is a top business challenge. In response to this barrier, nearly 70 percent of enterprises have implemented crowdsourcing within their organization as a way to get access to on-demand talent.
Analysts are also starting to notice the benefits of a crowdsourcing model. Gartner Research VP Gilbert van der Heiden says, "Through crowdsourcing, organizations have access to an almost limitless pool of cost-effective resources. Now that crowdsourced communities are becoming serious alternatives to traditional application development services for the delivery of innovation in an agile manner, sourcing managers must speed up their investments in the skills required to harness such communities."
"Crowdsourcing has become a viable alternative for IT and product leaders who are looking for supplemental or elastic development capacity or to access specialized skills," said Cat Lang, chief learning officer at Appirio and head of crowdsourcing adoption services. "However, it does require a slightly different approach – not unlike other new methods of development – and these programs are an excellent way for companies to either begin or scale their use of the crowd."
Led by Appirio's crowdsourcing experts and based on hundreds of successful crowd engagements, Appirio's First 10 programs enable companies to successfully embrace the crowd and bring internal teams along in the process. The programs follow a phased approach:
First 10 Minutes – This offering utilizes Appirio AppXpress to guide customers as they initiate and manage a mobile app design challenge using Appirio's crowdsourcing community.
First 10 Days – This series of interactive workshops reviews the fundamentals of crowdsourcing in application design and development, helping customers align business objectives, create clear success metrics, identify well-suited projects, and realize quick value on initial efforts.
First 10 Weeks – This more intensive program shifts focus to educating teams on how to embed crowdsourcing and use it as a standard delivery mechanism, helping customers define effective processes and governance and identify the right team structure.
First 10 Months – This customized program is designed for select customers who want to use the crowd at scale. It covers topics ranging from API strategies and investment plans to open architecture strategies and external crowd marketing programs.
