As production volumes and operational complexity increased across its EU footprint, the client faced growing pressure on its transportation and logistics operations. Fragmented planning across plants, limited real-time visibility into shipments, and manual, document-heavy processes made it difficult to predict delivery performance, coordinate carriers, and control costs at scale.
The underlying business ambition was to modernize transportation management so logistics could keep pace with production growth—without adding operational overhead. Working collaboratively, Wipro and the client designed and implemented a transformation centered on Blue Yonder Transportation Management System (BY TMS). The joint approach balanced centralized network planning with decentralized plant-level execution, enabling consistency while preserving local flexibility.
Together, the teams:
- Established real-time track-and-trace visibility to improve coordination, responsiveness, and carrier communication
- Embedded what-if scenario analysis to support informed, data-backed transportation planning and sourcing decisions
- Enabled dock scheduling to improve inbound and outbound flow across facilities
- Integrated BY TMS with the client’s ERP (SAP) to ensure end-to-end data integrity
- Automated transportation documentation—including invoicing, waybills, MBOLs, and loading sheets—to eliminate manual touchpoints
