Ambition

A large global healthcare organization partnered with Wipro to migrate mission-critical provider digital and data platforms to AWS. The transformation improved operational resilience, scalability, and compliance while enabling steady-state managed operations post-migration. A global healthcare and health services organization operated business‑critical provider digital and provider data platforms hosted on on‑premises Kubernetes and legacy environments. These platforms required high availability, strict regulatory compliance, and operational resilience, leaving little tolerance for downtime or data inconsistency. The organization set out to modernize its infrastructure by migrating to AWS while also establishing an enterprise-grade managed services model that could ensure stability, faster issue resolution, disaster recovery readiness, and the ability to fully realize cloud benefits without compromising reliability or compliance.

Action

Wipro partnered with the customer as the strategic cloud transformation and Managed Services Provider (MSP), delivering both the AWS migration and ongoing cloud operations through a factory-based, MSP-aligned delivery model integrated with the customer’s governance framework. The engagement covered application assessment, migration execution, and transition into steady-state managed services, ensuring predictable cutovers and operational continuity for healthcare-critical workloads.

Other solution details include:

  • Application discovery, assessment, and technical design documentation (TDD) for provider digital and provider data platforms
  • Migration of workloads from on‑premises Kubernetes to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)
  • Phased migration execution using Runbook-driven delivery and controlled cutovers across development, test, stage, and production environments
  • Use of Amazon EC2, Application Load Balancer, Amazon API Gateway, and Amazon S3 to support scalable application architectures
  • Database migration and synchronization using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) and MongoDB Atlas
  • Continuous monitoring and observability using Amazon CloudWatch, along with APM and Splunk integrations
  • Secure credential and secret management using AWS Secrets Manager
  • CI/CD automation implemented with GitHub Actions for consistent provisioning and deployment
  • Comprehensive managed services covering monitoring, incident management, change support, disaster recovery for P1/P2 workloads, and hypercare support

Ambitions Realized

Through Wipro’s AWS migration and managed services program, the customer successfully transitioned critical healthcare workloads to AWS with zero critical issues during production cutover. The bundle‑based, phased migration approach enabled predictable execution and strong governance across multiple waves, resulting in the migration of more than 25 applications, with additional workloads assessed for future phases. A seamless transition from on‑premises Kubernetes to Amazon EKS improved scalability and platform consistency, while automation and AI‑assisted tooling reduced documentation effort by 65%. Enhanced observability and MSP‑led operations enabled 50% faster problem resolution, standardized CI/CD pipelines improved code quality by 40%, and automated health checks reduced cutover duration by 40%. Strong improvements in monitoring, resilience, and disaster recovery readiness further strengthened mission‑critical healthcare platforms, building stakeholder confidence and enabling expansion of the AWS program across a broader application portfolio.
