The client’s geoscience community was required to perform complex tasks, such as seismic data analysis, well correlation, reservoir modelling, and reservoir simulations from their high-end computing workstations. Due to discrete setups, the teams faced challenges in collaborating with peers owing to location, network and device constraints. In order to enable users to work from across locations, the client needed its physical workstations to be virtualized, thus allowing flexi seating, access to high-end mobile devices and easy collaboration practices between its team members. Also making the on-boarding process of new users/guests, quick and easy was of essence.
The client engaged with Wipro to deploy high performance computing spaces, and scalable and secure infrastructure for seamless transition to smart workspaces for its geoscience community.
Wipro implemented a Subsurface Desktop Virtualisation Solution based on VMware’s Horizon View Desktop Virtualisation and vSphere Server Virtualisation technologies. Leveraging Wipro’s differentiated VirtuaDesk™ platform, Wipro built a private cloud infrastructure to deliver full cloud-based computing.
Wipro prepared test plans and performed test runs on Petro-technical applications and data flows across subsurface applications, such as Petrel, Petrel Studio, Rokdoc, Geoteric, and Paleoscan. The Wipro teams built and analyzed subsurface application personas based on different petro-technical functional groups of the subsurface community. It also developed a tiered desktop delivery model based on the computing needs of the subsurface users.
