IT major, first healthcare IT services organization to be certified for IEEE 11073(x73) for 5 certified device classes (CDC)

Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT) today announced that its x73 Manager USB Reference System, has been certified by Continua Health Alliance, a non-profit, collaborative industry organization dedicated to defining technology standards specifically for healthcare solutions.
Wipro becomes the first Healthcare IT Services organization to be certified for IEEE 11073 (x73) based software reference system for 5 certified device classes. The reference system supports blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, weighing scales, thermometers and glucometers. This solution will enable and simplify the needs of clinical diagnostic applications to collect vital medical data from homecare devices and bed-side monitors through application programming interfaces (API's) thereby forming a critical enabler for the fast growing remote patient monitoring system, home healthcare and e-health markets.
Continua Health Alliance is a collaborative industry organization dedicated to defining technology standards specifically for healthcare solutions. The alliance will establish technical design guidelines to provide manufacturers the information needed to develop products such as interoperable sensors, telehealth platforms, and health and wellness services. Products made under Continua Health Alliance guidelines will provide consumers with increased assurance of interoperability between devices, enabling them to share information with care givers and service providers more easily.
