November 12, 2013 : Global co-creation company creates new product platform in three months and experiences a 53 percent time savings by leveraging crowdsourcing
WASHINGTON D.C. – TOPCODER OPEN 2013 – November 12, 2013 – Appirio today announced that MESH01, a provider of web-based co-creation solutions, has created a new product testing platform in just three months by utilizing Topcoder's development and design crowdsourcing community. The product testing platform is designed to help brands expedite innovation and eliminate risk by connecting brands with target testers during product development. The platform enables brands to gather feedback from testers, ensuring faster, more successful product launches. The product testing platform was completed in three months – half of the time that MESH01 anticipated it would take to develop.
Brands are under constant pressure to develop new products quickly and MESH01 needed a technology platform with advanced functionality to capture and analyze feedback from testers faster and more efficiently. Also, the platform needed to be ready in time for the product development cycle most brands initiate in the Fall. To meet these requirements, a Topcoder architect created a project plan that leveraged Topcoder's community engagement and a progressive technology stack to include AngularJS, Node and MongoDB built on top of Heroku.
"Topcoder's community development model allowed us to design a new platform with boundless development resources," said Brian Bednarek, CEO, MESH01. "The work that Topcoder completed in three months was equivalent to approximately 15 full time developers, and the community delivered a platform at nearly half of our estimated cost."
A Topcoder architect broke down the development process into more than 100 contests to crowdsource components of the platform. More than 30 Topcoder community members from 16 countries contributed code that was combined by the Topcoder architect to create the new platform.
