September 14, 2010 : Partnership Combines Workday's Leadership in HCM and Financials with Appirio's Expertise and Innovation in Cloud Computing
SAN MATEO, Calif., September 14, 2010?Appirio a cloud solution provider, announced today it is bringing its cloud implementation and integration expertise and proven track record for innovation to the enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financials space through a new partnership with Workday. Workday is the leader in enterprise-class SaaS-based HCM, financial and payroll solutions. As part of this new partnership, Appirio introduced a new practice to deliver products and professional services that help large enterprises make the most of their investment with Workday.
Enterprise adoption of cloud computing and SaaS continues to accelerate, with HR leading the way among core enterprise applications. Gartner projects that cloud-based application totals will account for $20.7B in spending worldwide by 2014?growing 29 percent annually from today. According to Gartner, HR applications have seen some of the largest license deals in SaaS and "new application functionality delivered as a cloud service is establishing itself as the new norm for the software industry." (Gartner, Forecast: Public Cloud Services, Worldwide and Regions, Industry Sectors, 2009-2014, Ben Pring et al, June 2, 2010)
"Appirio's successful track record in bringing cloud solutions to enterprise customers makes it a natural partner for Workday," said Mike Stankey, president and COO for Workday. "We're thrilled to bring Appirio's products and experiences to Workday's customers."
"Workday is a clear leader in the space, having built and delivered the critical system of record for managing modern business," said Chris Barbin, CEO of Appirio. "Workday's powerful technology, its early commitment to SaaS, and its deep expertise in HCM and financials have driven the company's success with large enterprises. It is why we chose to run our business on Workday's solutions and now, build a practice around them. Focusing on the leaders and going deep on their technology has been core to Appirio's business strategy. Our new relationship with Workday will play an important role in how we evolve our cloudsourcing offerings."
This is the third strategic partnership for Appirio since the company's founding in 2006. It complements the company's already well-established practices for salesforce.com and Google Enterprise.
