Machine vision opens up entirely new possibilities in robotic automation as it introduces flexibility into robot’s functionality. Machine vision has become an integral part of industrial automation that allows the robot to adapt to obstacles in its environment and complete different preprogrammed tasks. The use of machine vision eliminates the need for expensive and custom fixtures that are required for automation.
Wipro has developed several machine vision applications including object detection, object pick and place, visual inspection, 2D tray picking, 3D bin picking, and sorting to guide robots in various operations. Our automatic calibration solution ensures proper positioning of the camera with respect to arm in less than an hour. We use deep learning based AI algorithms extensively in our vision solutions to detect and classify objects. We have devised solutions for automated training of AI/DL models for object detection and eliminated the need for manual annotation. We have also devised a solution of a virtual fence for a robot to eliminate the heavy physical fences that we see on a typical shop floor.
