Smart i-Airport

Enhance passenger’s airport experience, achieve operational excellence, sustainability, and contribute to non-aero revenue

Combine IoT, data, analytics, AI, and Digital Twin to create the airport of the future that increases operational efficiency while improving passenger experience

IoT is transforming the operations of every business, including airports. The new generation of airports uses sophisticated digital and IoT systems to plan and execute operations, support operations teams, and efficiently manage the flow of passengers.

Wipro’s Smart i-Airport solution hosts independent airport systems for airlines, passenger queuing, baggage management, ground fleet management, dwell time analysis, IT/OT management, utilities, building management, asset management, etc. In addition, the platform can integrate applications for current and future requirements while its Central Command Center provides process KPIs and visualization for intelligent real-time decision-making.

The platform includes the following key capabilities:

Virtual Queue Management System ensures passengers can join queues remotely (via a QR code or a link), monitors queue status, and dynamically manages them (counter and queue number allocation) using predictive analytics based on customer profiles, travel schedules, and customer standard classifications. The system can be integrated with FIDS, employee resource management, and Airline Operations Control Center. Airports using the system can easily integrate it with advertising solutions that improve revenue and with email and SMS gateways for passenger alerts and notifications. The benefits of the Virtual Queue Management System include the following:

  • Smart i-Airport AVI Solution: The solution packaged with an admin module, a map engine, and a mobile-enabled application provides intelligent actions to deal with fleet operations. Its features include area-wise live tracking, route display, ETA of vehicles, route prioritization, vehicle queue management, geo-fencing, business workflows and SOPs, configurable alerts, fuel management, driver management, biometric attendance management, incident management, and MIS reporting. The benefits of the Smart i-Airport AVI solution include:

  • Asset Management: Airports are large campuses with a whole spectrum of powered and unpowered, mobile and fixed assets like hydraulic lifts, power cleaners, specialized wrenches, etc. Misplacement of assets causes inefficiencies, duplication, and losses to airports which can be curbed through the Asset Management module of Wipro’s Smart i-Airport solution, which helps in delivering the following benefits:
    • Reduced asset tracing time and acquisition time.
    • Real-time asset health management and updated maintenance.
    • Improved asset utilization.
  • Navigation: Large airports usually have multiple levels as passengers move across stages, and it is easy to lose the sense of direction at any point at the airport. This happens particularly when passengers are engaged in multiple activities – shopping, eating, visiting experience centers, boarding transit vehicles, etc. A way finder with static or dynamic navigation empowers the passengers and guides them in real-time to their destinations – boarding gates, check-in counters, stores, washrooms, emergency exits, etc.

  • Technical Operations Center (TOC): Airports have IT & OT systems linked to multiple vendors and manage performance, SLAs, uptime, traffic, alerts, etc. Every provider comes with a separate interface and needs specialized skills to operate and manage the inputs and results, etc. A TOC can provide the following benefits:
    • Improve response and resolution capabilities of the operations team.
    • Allow the concentration of data in a single pane of glass for rapid issue identification, root-cause analysis, response, and resolution.
  • Digital Twin: A digital twin of a smart airport is a virtual replica of the airport that uses real-time data to simulate operations, processes, and systems. The digital twin can be utilized at various stages like planning, designing, construction, and operation of the airport. This digital twin can be used to optimize airport operations, improve the passenger experience, and enhance safety and security.

  • Sustainability: The Smart i-Airport solution helps achieve sustainability by reducing energy consumption, optimizing resource usage, and minimizing carbon emissions. Some of the ways the solution is enabling airports to accomplish sustainability goals are by implementing energy management, waste management, water management, air quality monitoring, transportation management, etc.
