WISE, Supplier ESG Engagement

Welcome to the Wipro Initiative for Supplier Engagement (WISE) Program! 

At Wipro, we are dedicated to fostering sustainable growth and strong partnerships with our suppliers. The WISE Program is administered by the Wipro Global Procurement under the aegis of Wipro Corporate Sustainability Team.

WISE is conceptualized to empower suppliers which do not have sustainability program of their own including our MSME partners across the globe.

Program Objectives: 

Environment

• Engage suppliers to conserve the planet and have robust process and policy towards Net Zero carbon emission initiative in line with Wipro’s commitment.
• Encourage suppliers to align with Wipro’s ambitious Net Zero target with critical role in supporting our Scope 3 goals along with our water use, waste management, and biodiversity programs.

Social

• Promote adherence to human rights, fair labor practices, safe working conditions, minimum wages, gender pay parity, social diversity, and other social standards across the value chain.
• Under the social aspect of ESG, supplier diversity remains a key focus. Thus, Wipro Inclusive Supplier Development and Mentorship Program (WISDOM) and Women Entrepreneurship with Wipro (WEW) will continue to engage and support certified diverse suppliers.

Governance

Emphasize data privacy, cyber security, ethical business practices, risk management, resilience, and other global standards of corporate governance.

Program Outline: 

1. Identifying WISE partners: Suppliers who have limited resources to institute their own sustainability program and expected to have notable and consistent spend with Wipro in the medium term are invited to participate in the WISE program.
2. Initial Assessment: WISE Supplier partners respond to a questionnaire which help our Implementing Partners to establish baseline for supplier ESG maturity.
3. Data-Driven Mentorship: We mentor them on taking gradual measures towards adopting business sustainability practices, like using available electricity consumption data to estimate Scope 2 emissions. 
4. Long-Term Engagement: We will build supplier capacity to measure environmental footprint of their products and services, collaborate on social and governance best practices and develop comprehensive ESG programs to align with Wipro Supply Chain Sustainability goals.

Note:

Wipro’s ambitious voluntary ESG goals and regulatory compliances such as CSRD and BRSR make it necessary for Wipro to expect active supplier participation in the WISE program. Thus, evaluation of the same becomes an important parameter for it to assess supplier performance going forward.
