Client Background

Products/Services: Chemicals, industrial polymers, petrochemicals
Employees: Over 30,000
Challenge
The client was facing challenges in goods dispatch and delay in loading and unloading of trucks due to security checks, road congestion, parking availability, dispatch schedule tracking, resource management etc. They were looking for a holistic solution which could integrate with ERP and automate dispatch management processes.
Solution
Wipro implemented a Dispatch Management System integrated with ERP-based inventory and invoice systems. This solution was also integrated with the truck license plate recognition system for tracking of trucks inside the warehouse grounds.
Goods delivery and invoicing was made efficient by enabling automated truck license plate monitoring. The trucks could be identified with its license plate details at the entry and exit points of the plant, which helped provide real-time data to ERP systems to generate invoice and assign delivery bay to receive the goods for a dispatch.
License plate recognition systems helped identify the vehicle zone, and indoor and outdoor LED display screen indicating the delivery bay for driver information helped security guards speed up security clearances.
Since the solutions were directly integrated at the database level, the dispatch team could provide real-time goods dispatch details to respective stakeholders like drivers and security personnel for security inspection clearance.
Business Impact
Integration of the Dispatch Management System with ERP ensured smooth and real time data exchange and authorization, which helped in planning goods based on availability of trucks, and faster movement of loaded trucks.
