July 11, 2016 : More Than 800 Employees Worldwide Volunteer on Appirio's Annual Future of the Cloud Day
With a 25% increase in volunteers, the company continues to build upon its mission to use time, talent, and technology for the good of the community
Indianapolis, IN ? July 11, 2016 ? At this year's Future of the Cloud Day (FOTCD), more than 800 Appirians gathered at locations around the globe to help dozens of non-profit organizations get closer to their goals. Employees in Tokyo, Dublin, London, Jaipur, and all across the United States spent a day weighing and labeling donated food and groceries, cleaning up public parks, writing letters to veterans and homeless teens, landscaping at the Boys and Girls Club, and much more.
Future of the Cloud Day is part of Appirio's corporate responsibility program, Silver Lining, which was created to mobilize employees to make a measurable impact on the communities in which they work and live. This year at FOTCD, Appirio also introduced Silver Lining Cloud Clinics ? free sessions for non-profits and other organizations to ask questions and receive hands-on help from Appirio experts.
"Giving back is an important part of our mission," said Ellen Humphrey, Senior Vice President of Human Resources. "Like many of our partners, we believe that creating a culture of giving is good not only for the betterment of local and global communities; it also keeps employees happy and productive at work. Increasingly, what the next-generation of workers wants is to work for an organization that contributes to the greater good of society."
Appirio launched Silver Lining in 2010, and has since donated over 29,000 hours, raised more than $565,000, and helped more than 400 non-profits such as the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and the Second Harvest Food Bank. The program incorporates the Pledge 1% model, which was founded in 2014 by Salesforce, Atlassian, and Rally to inspire early stage corporate philanthropy.
