Anand Padmanabhan is President, Business Development and Strategic Sales of Wipro Limited.
Anand, who has been with Wipro for more than three decades now, leads leveraged geographies and drives localization in these markets. He has extensive experience in strategic deal making across verticals and markets.
Prior to this, Anand led the Energy, Natural Resources & Utilities & Construction (ENU) business unit for a decade, starting April 2008, transforming it into a unique strength for Wipro. He played a stellar role in making the business unit one of the Top 3 IT solution providers to the ENU industry across the globe and the largest India-based player in the ENU market. Under Anand’s leadership, Wipro won two big deals – the acquisition of SAIC’s global oil and gas information technology practice and the large strategic contract with ATCO.
He has handled a variety of roles in sales and operations, chief among them being Customer Support, ERP Solutions Sales and System Integration Services. He has worked towards establishing and strengthening relationships with various technology vendors and has helped the organization get multiple awards – from principals like Sun, Cisco, and Nortel – for consistent performance in the Enterprise Products space.
In 2005, Anand took over the responsibility of the Enterprise Services business. Prior to that, he was leading the System Integration division and launched new practices successfully in that space. He played a key role in forging a strategic alliance with Cisco in India in 1995.
Anand, who joined Wipro as a field engineer, has contributed immensely to the growth of various divisions in the organization. He holds an engineering degree and is a management graduate from Bombay University. He is a sports enthusiast, with chess and badminton being his favorite games.
