Wipro’s automation expertise helps multinational tech company achieve migration to Azure
Client background
As part of its data center exit strategy, our client wanted to move all SAP and non-SAP workloads to Azure Cloud. The primary drivers for the exit included the downtime of existing on-premise systems that were affecting productivity, poor scalability of compute infrastructure, and the inability of developers to create and decommission Virtual Machines when they wanted on the existing systems.
Aside from neutralizing the barriers to scalability and agility, our client wanted to take advantage of the cost savings that the Azure platform could deliver. The client also had concerns around unforeseen disruptions during migration and needed to accurately assess the impact of migration on in-flight projects and business continuity.
Solution
The client’s IT landscape included over 18 SAP and non-SAP applications running on 165 servers. In addition, there were 30,000+ users and 1,500+ internal and external data sources with 2.6 million transactions per day that added to the complexity of the project.
The team used automation to reduce the total migration effort and to minimize manual errors over the three phases of the 12-month project:
