?The data generated and consumed by organizations worldwide has grown exponentially in recent years challenging their IT departments to optimize their data center operations. To remain competitive in a heated marketplace, it is important for organizations to operate efficiently and be able to access and leverage their data. This makes a necessary business case for developing a data center strategy that can address data center challenges efficiently.
Wipro, along with the Outsourcing Center, recently conducted a survey on data center optimization. The survey aimed to determine the current state of organizations’ data centers as well as explore the attitudes and challenges towards data center optimization. The survey includes the views of 75 CIOs/IT heads from Fortune 1000 corporations representing a range of industries including retail, financial services, transportation/logistics, manufacturing, healthcare and telecommunications. It is evident that in order to meet current data center challenges, organizations need to take new approaches to data center management. Transforming the data center can enable growth, minimize risk, increase speed and agility, and lead to dramatic cost reductions. Teaming up with a mature service provider can also help an organization variabilize data center costs while delivering next-generation services.

Rajan Sampath is a Chemical Engineer from IT-BHU. After a short stint in manufacturing shop floor, moved as consultant with a private firm dealing in energy audit and consultancy. Spent 5 years in energy consulting with variety of industries including, Cement, Textiles, Paper and Chemicals.
Joined Wipro in 1995. Started out as an account manager. Was the pre-sales person for Sun, Sales Manager and Business manager for Sun from 1996-2003. From 2004-2007 started the storage practice within Wipro and grew it to a large independent business. From 2007-2010 handled the overall business for Platform and Storage practice across India and Middle East.
Moved to WT-TIS in April 2010 as Head of DC Transformation services within TIS. Built the practice from conception to maturity including scope, architecture and delivery.
Currently heading the ENU vertical within TIS which includes sales, practice, verticalisation as well as handling the P&L for the division. Also handle the strategic alliances and product operations for TIS.
