Abstract
The IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is one of the latest developments in telecommunications that has caught the  interest of all involved in the multimedia services ecosystem.IMS enables rapid creation and deployment of new and innovative multimedia services based on the session initiation protocol (SIP). This white paper describes the Service Based Local Policy approach  adopted by the 3GPP for QoS control for IMS multimedia services.
