Abstract
MPEG-4 video (ISO/IEC 14496) is the most recent multimedia standard developed by JointTechnical Committee ISO/IEC JTC 1, Information Technology. This part was developed inresponse to the growing need for a coding method that can facilitate access to visual objectsin natural and synthetic moving pictures and associated natural or synthetic sound for variousapplications such as digital storage media, internet, various forms of wired or wirelesscommunication, etc. The use of the MPEG-4 video standard MPEG-4 video provides featuresthat include Scalability, Shape coding, Error resilience, Face animation, etc.

The paper elaborates the following features in greater depth. Shape coding, Error resilience,Face Animation etc.

There are fundamentally three profiles that MPEG-4 supports namely Simple Profile, CoreProfile and Main Profile. The paper elaborates these profiles at length.
