An introduction to iSCSI (Internet SCSI)
Abstract This white paper introduces the reader to iSCSI technology and advantages of the technology over traditional data storage approaches. The iSCSI protocol is a mapping of the SCSI remote procedure invocation model over the TCP protocol. This is a client-server protocol wherein SCSI commands and responses are exchanged between remote SCSI endpoints in the form of iSCSI Protocol Data Units (PDU).
Information provided in this paper is based on IETF iSCSI draft 20.
