VOIP performance monitoring
Abstract
Telecom service providers are migrating towards common network architectures to facilitate creation of multi-service platforms to deliver voice, video, data and mobility services. The first step towards this is achieving convergence at network infrastructure level through IP. The first set of services to be rolled out on the converged infrastructure is 'voice'. Service providers should ensure voice rollout on the IP network (read Voice over IP - VoIP) is effective and provides the same level of quality as traditional voice services.
This white paper briefly describes voice performance monitoring in IP network, performance monitoring challenges, operations support system
(OSS) requirements and recommendations for meeting these challenges.
