Abstract
Use of robust coding schema helps in increasing the spend visibility. It also gives more control to a purchase manager in terms of tracking the overall spend, categorizing and analyzing the spend by region, by supplier and by commodity. Better control leads in getting instant insights in contract leakages, if any. A good coding schema helps in knowing the purchase price variance, supplier wise share distribution pattern etc. A robust coding schema is also helpful in conducting strategic sourcing exercise.
