Abstract
The Retail Banking industry currently faces a wide range of challenges: deteriorating consumer credit quality; uncertain macro-economic outlook in several countries; competition and consolidation; shareholder pressure on rewards; and Basel Capital Adequacy uncertainties. Much of the focus till date (BASEL II notwithstanding) has been on Corporate Credit Risk and Retail Credit risk issues have not got the attention they deserve.

This white paper tries to analyze the various requirements and issues confronting banks with significant retail portfolios while implementing a Credit Risk BASELII Solution. It also offers a solution approach which banks can adopt while implementing a solution for their retail credit portfolios.
