Information exchange in refineries: The XML approach
Abstract The downstream hydrocarbon processing industry is gearing up to face new challenges in refining and marketing of fuels, lubes and chemicals. Companies which make the maximum use of information will gain a lasting advantage. This white paper explains the importance of information exchange between plant systems and describes how from the plant level to the enterprise level, XML is one of the means to address this information exchange effectively.
The paper also briefly touches on the standards and specifications for such information exchange and also provides an insight into the areas in which XML is already being successfully used as a data exchange mechanism in the refinery sector.
