The challenge
To reduce the time-to-market for the customer
who required a Wireless Gateway product by providing
a mix of ready to use IP blocks and design services.
The solution
The customer wanted to build
a Home Networking solution having wireless connectivity.
IEEE 802.11a technology emerged as the chosen wireless
technology as it has the bandwidth to support both
audio and video data. The project involved building
a Wireless Gateway with USB, 1394, Ethernet and
Wireless LAN interfaces. Wipro integrated its USB,
Ethernet and Wireless LAN MAC IP with customer’s
MAC+Baseband IP. Wipro also customized its 802.1d
bridge software to integrate with the other components.
The product development also involved development
of the drivers and the protocol stack including
the web based management utilities. The entire software
development was done using Object Oriented Design
Methodology. Wipro will also participate in Wi-Fi5
certification and WHQL certification for the customer’s
final product.
