The Customer
Delivering best practice solutions to improve the IT infrastructure Support of the Scottish Parliament. ISO 9000 based quality processes to ensure best-of-breed quality solutions, research insights from our Centers of Excellence to gather inputs on new and emerging technologies and best security management principles to build a robust, scalable and efficient IT infrastructure.

Situation
The existing IT infrastructure of the Scottish Parliament (40 Servers and 900 workstations) was spread across dispersed locations. Maintaining the existing network, address increasing demands of servers and network.

 
The Challenge

The state of the existing infrastructure posed challenges for us to understand and identify the bottlenecks, and improve the performance of the existing infrastructure. Parliament's business requires ensuring minimum scheduled downtime of systems and lay down the best technology set-up. There was a need to maintain the network and implement a process for best practices and future infrastructure expansion.

 
The Solution

We, working with the Scottish Parliament IT division audited the Network, Security, and Disaster Recovery systems that helped in isolating the bottlenecks of the network and tightening the vulnerabilities of the server systems and network. We implemented monitoring systems for the servers and network performance and management. We also run a single-shift operation on site, to monitor and support servers and networks.

Leveraging on our quality leadership, we have documented and established a well-defined process as stated by ISO standards to perform the monitoring and support activities for the servers and network performance. Our Center of Excellence enabled us to make recommendations based on best practices.
