Client
The client is among the top three banks in the USA. With over $650 billion in assets it provides financial products and services to 30 million households and two million businesses, as well as international corporate financial services for business transactions in more than 150 countries.

Challenge
The Client Investment Services (CIS) of the bank's Global Corporate and Investment Banking business planned to extend dispersed account information and transaction services over the web for its middle market customers. The key thrust of this application was to drive investment information to self service and help the bank's relationship managers devote more quality time on investment advisory.

Solution

With the new electronic CIS portal, the customers can view at one place; account information about their various relationships, and the compute the investable balance. Based on this total picture, further investment action can be initiated by the customer.

E-CIS is a client-server based portal application, which will allow customers to access an aggregated view of account balances and maturities, portfolio holdings and trade transaction activity.

The architecture provides all of the essential capabilities for powering the most demanding e-business applications, including:

High Performance and Scalability: Built on a highly-scalable, clustered architecture delivers load balancing, connection pooling, results caching, and optimized Web server, operating system, virtual machine, and database communications.
High Availability: By leveraging the battle-tested platform on the market, deployment of mission critical, e-business applications can be based on J2EE technology with confidence.
Enterprise Integration Options: Connecting to existing enterprise resources, doing high performance messaging within the enterprise (application integration) or over the Internet (Business-to-Business), The architecture can manage content, business logic, and transactions from the data center to the client.

Benefits

As the customer is now empowered and able to access his information through the Internet and view it in one place before calling the CIS sales person, the facility enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales and customer service process.

The portal also provide the client news (via links to internal systems), market benchmarks (NASDAQ, DJIA) and news through existing internal market data service such as the Global Markets Group (GMG) market data component.

The application has necessary components to enable use of off-the-shelf tools for content management and personalization at a later stage.
