The bank strategy is to move towards developing
platform independent business components to interact
with the mainframe host and leverage web technology
for access and distribution.
Existing Scenario
The system handles the payment processing in the
following manner. A scanned payment order is checked
and made complete (if not already) with respect
to account, product and risk information by a
business engine from other systems. A payment
order may be sent to another system if there are
debit warnings on the customer account. The decision
returned by that system decides if the payment
will go ahead. After processing the business engine
outputs results (payment update information, whom
to be credited and debited etc.), which are stored
back in the result store on the host. The engine
thereafter sends a composite message to the host
to initiate activities like payment booking debit
/credit slip creation, electronic archive, communication
to inter-bank clearing, SWIFT, post.
Going forward the re-engineered application
is expected to process 1 million payment orders
a working day.
