Architecture consulting for a large commercial forex trading and travel company

The Customer
The customer is one of the of the largest foreign exchange (retail and corporate) and travel companies and has worldwide operations.

The Challenge

The Project was initiated to define the essential elements of the Global, Online Commercial Foreign Exchange (CFX) System

This solution was intended to enable the Client to achieve the following key objectives:

Straight Through Processing (STP) - End-to-End, automatic Forex transactions with least manual intervention, less delays & errors
Customer Relationship Management (Single view of the Customer)
Value Added Services to Customers (Online Customer Self-service – Email/Fax, Online Chat, and Help)
Management Information

The Solution

After a detailed understanding of the business and technical requirements of the system, Wipro documented these requirements as detailed use cases. Wipro defined a multi-tiered, multi-layered architecture to cater to these business and technical requirements. Wipro was involved in platform and product evaluation and selection exercises. The architecture comprised of disparate technologies such as J2EE, XML, CORBA, VB and COM-Java/EJB bridging. During the design of the system, Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used for capturing the design of the components and objects.

The solution covered the following

Centralized approach for deployment, but cater to regional variations
Robust realization of the complex Order Execution Transaction (Spot-Buy/Sell, Forward, Stop Loss, Rate Watch) requirements - as components and batch processes - Straight-through processing
Different user interface needs – web browser user interface for external users and Visual Basic based user interface for internal users
Security
Performance, Flexibility/Extensibility, Scalability, Maintainability, Availability and Reusability
Interfacing with Siebel (CRM), Back-office Systems and Partners’ Systems through Business messaging
Multi-lingual and Localization support
Email Notifications and Live Chat
Strict Auditing requirements
Personalization
