Integration and consolidation across business units to improve organizational efficiency

The idea
Create synergy between business units to provide near real time visibility and informed decision making

The client
Part of a Global Fortune 500 conglomerate, our client is the largest electrical motor manufacturer in the world. With a workforce of close to 12,000 they produce more than 330,000 motors every day.

The business challenge
With the global proliferation, client’s disparate businesses units had their own legacy systems and stand-alone processes. In the absence of a unified sales and order plan, sales teams were unable to quote definite delivery dates. Order promising was tentative and was based on generic lead times. Similar issues existed with forecasting, procurement, capacity planning and budgeting. Low scalability of legacy system was also an impediment to growth.

The solution
Wipro teamed with the client to consolidate and optimize its fragmented operations benefiting the client from economies of scale. As part of an end-to-end Oracle Application based solution, the Wipro team provided:
Consulting (Pre-implementation study, implementation and post-implementation)
Application development
Application management

Adopting global delivery model and proprietary EAPM package implementation methodology, Wipro partnered with the client’s business champions to successfully deliver the project through organizational re-structuring and upgrades. A large number of legacy applications were decommissioned with processes and operations across 25+ manufacturing and distribution locations went live with the new solution. We also provided cross-function services like change management, risk management and scope management.

Business benefits

Improved customer mapping aiding better cross-selling and up-selling
An integrated supply chain across the enterprise allowing automation of lean manufacturing initiatives, forecasting, order promising and other warehouse functions
