Implementation of Ariba suite of products for an integrated end-to-end sourcing system in a leading investment bank

The idea
Integrate the sourcing processes of a merged business entity.

The client
A Fortune 500 company, the client is a leader in investment banking, asset and wealth management and private equity. The client recently underwent a merger of its holding companies, and today boasts assets of over $1.1 trillion and operations in more than 50 countries.

The business challenge
The client was confronted with a non- standard organization wide sourcing system, severely impeding visibility of processes and accountability. Some of the major challenges posed were:
Data intensive manual systems and host of authorizations leading to deteriorated sourcing performance
Absence of central data repository, as a result of which there was no single organization-wide ‘source-of-truth’

Further, the existing repository of templates and process compliance was also found to be weak. For any analysis to be carried out, data needed to be cleansed because of multiple data sources feeding information in different formats. Finally, there was a need for consolidations of the client’s ERP landscape.

The solution

The client decided to define, streamline and systematize its end-to-end sourcing process and Wipro was selected as the preferred partner of this organizational wide initiative. This was a first of its kind, multi-implementation green-field project for Ariba suite of products for the client. Wipro adopted its well proven Enterprise Applications Process Model (EAPM) framework based on the AribaLive methodology in the successful implementation of this initiative. In enabling the end-to-end sourcing process for greater visibility, Wipro strategized the implementation road-map, program guide and championed the project planning from kickoff stage to micro level cut-over plans to switch-off of legacy applications and implementation of the new suite of products. The key highlights of the project are as follows:
Implementation of Ariba Category Management (ACM) module
Implementation of Ariba Contract Workbench (ACW) module
Implementation of Ariba Analysis (AA) module
Implementation of Ariba Enterprise Sourcing (AES) module
Total ownership of organization change management, awareness and education for the super-users, including design of security and access control for 200,000 + users

Further, the team built the data conduits for the newly built applications with the existing applications and integrated the four different suites with the Ariba Buyer and Ariba Data Enrichment modules of the organization.

In a phased approach, Wipro leveraged its global delivery model to bring out maximum value for the client. Global rollouts were carried out in the USA, several European locations and also in Asia and Australia.
