| Abstract
With the increased deployment of VoIP networks, the
incentive for telemarketers to spam VoIP users with
unsolicited voice sessions has also substantially increased.
The best way to counter VoIP spam is to have strong
counter mechanisms in the IP network to prevent spam
effectively. In this white paper, we provide technical
analysis of the risks posed by VoIP spam, discuss the
mechanisms to counter VoIP spam and propose the Voice
Printing and Reachability Code (VPARC) architecture
to effectively counter VoIP spam. The focus of this
paper is on presenting the architectural model and the
principles therein. The paper does not detail all the
implementation aspects of the architecture and specifics
of the protocol changes required although different
design approaches are described without going into specific
changes required to realize the same.
