Abstract
As more and more software applications are developed
for user community across the world, Internationalization
of the software is a key concern. From a mere, application
design consideration, Internationalization has become
a small field by itself and significant amount of research
has been carried out in this field. While there is a
large number of a literature available in the industry
on various techniques of Internationalization, there
are few survey papers. There is a need for understanding
Internationalization in a holistic perspective and this
paper addresses that need.
Based on a literature survey and practical experience
of implementing Internationalization, this paper tries
to present Internationalization in a holistic sense.
It covers various aspects like need for Internationalization,
sub areas of Internationalization, typical problems
involved in implementing Internationalization, design
guidelines and some of the recommended solutions.
