| Abstract
With the dawn of year 2005, ‘quantitative restrictions’
or ‘quota system’ in textiles and apparels
sector will come to an end, making way for retailers
and private label brand manufacturers to source openly
across the globe. To take advantage of low-cost manufacturing
locations across the world, they will need to re-visit
their sourcing strategies by consolidating their vendor
bases and restructuring their global supply chains.
This white paper discusses the impact
of quota elimination on key stakeholders and the benefits
that lie ahead for retailers and manufacturers . The
paper gives a brief about criteria that can be used
for selecting a country and a vendor and also how information
technology can come as an aid in meeting this restructuring
challenge.
