Abstract
Organizations that are looking to expand their business
globally need to perform consistently. As businesses
increasingly depend on IT, there is tremendous pressure
on the IT service delivery team. Users always expect
the best from IT services. Naturally, a lot depends
on deploying highly available IT infrastructure elements
and providing proactive support for the same.
Also, organizations demand a substantial reduction
in their IT infrastructure downtime. The current IT
environment also is not confined to a single server
but comprises of a combination of a variety of hardware
and software assets. The reliability, availability and
serviceability of each individual component make the
designing a complex process. This white paper provides
a guideline for designing a highly available infrastructure;
it covers the design processes and explains the various
phases involved in the process.
