Abstract
Exploitation of content assets to their fullest is the
raison d’etre for most media companies. The last
few years have seen organizations make attempts to better
manage those assets in order to increase the return
on those assets. However, what has emerged is that the
stand-alone asset management systems are not able to
add a lot of value in terms of optimizing asset performance.
These systems need to talk to core organizational systems
and need a robust front end content management system
which can enable access to these assets. The theory
has been further ratified by the moves made by some
content management companies where they have backward
integrated and bought pure play digital asset management
companies and now offer asset management as an extension
of content management.
This white paper looks at digital asset from an enterprise
perspective. It offers suggestions on various integration
points that will enable media companies to get better
value for their IP and enable more robust asset monitoring.
The paper provides integration touch points between
industry standard DAM systems and enterprise applications
such as content management, ERP, CRM and intellectual
asset management (rights and royalties applications).
These integration points have also been developed into
live proof of concepts that can be demonstrated upon
request.
