Abstract
Gaining competitive advantage by using IT as a strategy,
does not mean choosing the best of the breed IT solutions,
which are comprehensive, but yet not address the fundamental
issues. The right approach would be to identify the
root causes, which have a direct bearing on the key
performance indicators (KPI) and thus optimize them
by choosing the appropriate solutions.
In line with the trends in IT solutions which spell
out cost-effective and needs-oriented, the Contract
Manufacturers (CMs) need to come out of the traditional
OEM-dominated supply chain and start looking at the
solutions which give them the cutting edge.
This paper looks into the several IT investment options
and explains in setails the "what, why, and how's"
of the best option that is available.
