| RUP* consulting is aimed
at providing the client with a service of customization
of rational unified process for projects. RUP best practices
are applied to the projects by defining processes and
artifacts as outlined in RUP to improve the quality across
the lifecycle of the project from requirements to testing.
The customization is carried out at 2 levels – one
at the project level (Fast RUP) and the other at a higher
level to address the organizational need for process framework
and institutionalize process framework (Institutionalize
RUP).
Fast RUP – This targets at providing process
solutions to individual projects in an organization.
When a project team has decided to use RUP the consulting
team customizes the processes for the specific project
keeping in mind the existing processes, the team composition
and the project goals.
Institutionalize RUP – Large organizations need
a process framework and specific methodologies for different
types of projects like development, package implementation,
maintenance etc. Institutionalize RUP aims at providing
a process framework to the entire organization (which
includes high level processes defined for the organization
and detailed processes which are common to various types
of projects). It also involves identifying different
types of projects that are being executed by the organization
and defining specific processes and artifacts for these
types of projects.
