The Blackmores Sydney Marathon originated in 2001 after the hugely successful Sydney 2000 Olympic Games when the NSW Government approved the continuation of a marathon in Sydney as a legacy of the Games. Twelve years on and the Sydney marathon remains the sole legacy of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and is now one of four exhilarating events that make up Australia’s best running festival.

The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is considered one of Australia’s most spectacular running events with each participant getting to run across the Sydney Harbour bridge traffic free. The course takes in Sydney’s with stunning harbor views through beautiful parklands and finishing at the iconic Sydney Opera House and the tranquil Royal Botanic Gardens. The Blackmores Sydney Marathon and Blackmores Half Marathon end at the Sydney Opera House and The Sunday Telegraph body+soul Bridge run and The Sunday Telegraph Family Fun Run finishing at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

The Blackmores Sydney half marathon kicked off proceedings at 6.30 am, followed by the Blackmores Sydney wheel chair Marathon at 7.25 am, the Blackmores Sydney Marathon at 7.30 am, The Sunday Telegraph family fun run at 7.55 am and concluding with The Sunday Telegraph body +soul bridge run at 9.00 am.
