Founded in 1975 as a Hong Kong Electricity Group tariff collection and promotion centre for the use of electricity and the sale of a basic range of electrical products, Fortress was acquired by Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL) in 1986 and joined the A.S.Watson Group, the retail arm of HWL in 1990.
It has since become the leading retailer of electrical appliances in Hong Kong with around 60 outlets employing more than 1,000 staff; the company also employs over 100 staff across several outlets in Taiwan.
Fortress provides extensive staff training. As a testament to its high service levels, Fortress has won several 'Best Customer Service' awards from different media and management organisations. Fortress has also been repeatedly named as Hong Kong Merchant of Integrity by the Guangzhou Daily and been honoured for its creative communications by The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Hong Kong.
Enabler has helped Fortress to get a more accurate and profound insight into its business through the development of Oracle Retail’s data warehouse, fronted by MicroStrategy for analysis. Fortress is using the DW to monitor sales, inventory, and product versions. The implementation was completed in a record-breaking four months.
