Global Data Synchronization and GTIN
GDS is of significant importance to the Retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry as it will enable reducing costs incurred to players due to information errors in invoices, product catalogs and new item introductions. Industry research shows that retailers and CPG manufactures lose 3.5% of their sales every year due to supply chain inefficiencies arising out of non-synchronous data usage. Wipro has developed a point solution on global data synchronization (GDS) that enables these organizations improve supply chain process efficiencies, save cost and increase speed to shelf.

Linked to the need for synchronizing data between retailers and suppliers is the adoption of new GTIN – global trade item number, a 14 digit standard for product identification and GLN global location number. Retailers and CPG manufacturers have to remediate their existing software systems and the related hardware to meet this compliance requirement. Wipro has developed a comprehensive tool kit which comprises GTIN assessment and remediation methodology and a language independent assessment tool.
