The idea

Implementation of Project Management and Change Control operations to enhance the overall effectiveness of the project/program/portfolio aligned with the Strategic IT Transformation initiative of the organization.

The client
A global banking organization from Netherlands. Client had kicked of a special initiative to change the technological landscape of the organization, one of them being creating Program Management office, to manage processes and take part in planning and controlling Programs.
 
The business challenge

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance function at the portfolio level was non-existent
Environment for process dissemination was not in place
Portfolio/ Programme level policies for driving process implementation were not defined
Best practices were evident only in silos within different programmes
Disparate and nonaligned initiatives on process improvements and tool implementation
Inadequate process focus in programme execution

Application assessments : It lacked consistency and standardization owing to lack of defined process, resulting in low throughput


The solution

Quality Assurance

Delivered a gap analysis report on existing processes and practices within the IT portfolio with reference to incumbent standards, industry best practices and PRINCE2/MSP models
Recommended a prioritized process improvement proposal
Defined and implemented prioritised processes in alignment with tool implementation guidelines by involving stakeholders at portfolio and programme level. Defined policies at the portfolio and programme level
Imparted training and process dissemination sessions for programme stakeholders


Application Assessments: Developed governance framework, detailed procedures with embedded quality gates for application assessments
