The client

A leading customized digital image processing and printing firm in the US with revenues exceeding 100 million US dollars.

 
The business challenge
The client was a highly people-dependent organization, where the engineering group faced a resource constraint and was unable to service all the customer requests. There was a limited use of metrics to understand, analyze and improve the core business. Inconsistent usage of processes and tools lead to poor performance of projects with increased cycle time for development, increased test regression and reduced productivity. The system architecture also faced increasing risk due to system complexity and defect build-up.
 
The solution

The Wipro team first undertook a comprehensive study as-is scenario and identify opportunities for improvement. The team designed a customized development process model that facilitated greater predictability and consistency in project execution. The metrics collection and analysis process was also defined thereby establishing a mechanism for setting improvement targets. Project management & engineering activities were integrated into a standard quality framework.

The Wipro team recommended QA tools and did a usage analysis of existing tools to help enhance QA execution efficiency and maximize reliability. Opportunities for enhancement were identified and clear guidelines were defined for QA involvement in projects.

The Wipro team configured a tool which provided integrated project planning and had portfolio management capabilities. This improved team planning, project level decision making, and aided in scenario analysis
