OpenCable
The OpenCable standard is set to bring about a revolution in the way cable is used as a medium for broadband digital broadcast. It is also set to pave the way for making cable modems more affordable for the consumer. Wipro has also developed its own design for implementing the OpenCable standard on digital set-top boxes and digital TVs for its customers.
Details of the OpenCable reuse stack developed at Wipro:
- Database, Builder & Interface
- Extension of ATSC database to hold data from OpenCable specific tables
- OpenCable Parser & XDS Parser
- OC Parser parses In-Band Service information (ATSC A/65B) and Out-of-Band Service information (SCTE-65)
- XDS parser parses tables and stores them in appropriate data structure for closed captions (EIA-CEA/608-B)
- Open Cable POD protocol stack [SCTE 28]
- Supports nine resources required for uni-directional receiving device. The resources are: Application information, MMI, Conditional Access Support, Host control, Homing, Date & Time, Extended channel support and Resource manager.
- Emergency Alert Service (EAS) delivered on Out-of Band [SCTE-18]
- Supports emergency alert messages
- If required can tune to emergency frequency subjected to hardware support
- Pointer to an optional audio channel that can be used to replace the audio of the current service for the duration of the EA
