Grid Computing
To build capability and add focused value, we established Wipro Grid Computing Centre Of Excellence in April, 2005 with a core team. The core team is supported by various industry and technology focused groups within Wipro. Established grid lab with products from almost all key commercial players and actively engaged in joint development. We are closely working with open source initiatives like Globus and Condor grid computing labs. We are also working with in-house industry experts to explore grid potential and point solution development. We are working closely with enterprise world in Grid assessment engagements and strategy development.

Grid Infrastructure Establishment & Management
Wipro has a considerable experience in setting up the Grid environment. Grid being hybrid model, the Grid R & D lab is setup within Wipro using windows, Sun and Linux platforms to support data virtualization for our own Grid based solutions. The entire Grid Lab’s setup and infrastructure management is handled by specialized team. Wipro’s support engineers are specially trained on Grid Platforms and commercial products to administer and support large scale Grid establishments. Wipro provides 24x7 support to some of the leading financial and Chip vendors in maintaining the Grid infrastructure consisting 1000 to 2000 nodes.

Grid Architecture
Wipro’s dedicated Grid team has capability to bring the Grid based architectural blueprint. It also suggests the roadmap for the phased implementation and identification of necessary resources.

Grid Implementation
Wipro has strong expertise in implementing the grid based solutions. Wipro has also implemented some of the grid based solutions in R & D lab. It brings unique opportunity for the customer who would like to implement Grid based solution by leveraging our expertise on Grid middleware products and come up with highly cost-effective dynamically scalable infrastructure.

Grid Consultancy
Wipro has a dedicated team with strong understanding on the Grid middleware (like Condor, Platform LSF, Sun N1 Grid engine, Globus toolkit) who can provide high-end technology consulting for the customers in need of technology assessment. This team is capable in analyzing the resources and application for the Grid enabling them. We are actively involved in companies dealing with Petroleum and Seismic data processing in providing consultancy.

Wipro’s Grid Based Solutions
Wipro’s R & D team has implemented Grid based solution like Grid for Software development for product build and testing which reduced the IT cost and cycle time. Our solution, Grid based E-mail provides an email facility as a service for enterprise users which has a capability to scale dynamically with great degree of fault tolerance. Wipro has an initiative to develop an internal “compute grid” by connecting upwards of ten thousand desktops and low/mid range servers. Team is presently exploring possible business models to exploit such a facility.

Grid Middleware
Wipro has a dedicated team with strong understanding on the Grid middleware (like Condor, Platform LSF, Sun N1 Grid engine, Golbus toolkit). Wipro also has expertise in similar architectures like Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Wipro is partnering with Grid middleware implementers like Univa, Platform, Data Synapse and United Devices. Client can leverage the expertise on these middleware to implement Grid based solutions.

Seismic Data Processing
Wipro is engaged with companies dealing with Seismic Data Processing. Wipro is actively involved in porting legacy application which involved algorithms and data intensive computations to be Grid enabled.
